I was always the person who refused to download Snapchat. I mean, I just didn’t get it. What in the world is a ‘filter’? Is it like a Brita filter? From capturing my post-graduate adventures, to capturing the wonky and interesting sights of New York City, Snapchat is an app like no other. It brings personality. It puts the social in social media.

Burnout is sadly a concept that is familiar to far too many of us. And it’s burnout that propelled MindBodyGreen founder Jason Wachob to reexamine, and ultimately overhaul his life. After graduating from Columbia, Jason found himself on Wall Street making millions. By all accounts he was living the dream, successful, wealthy, but unfulfilled, unhappy and most importantly – unwell.

Starting in June, we ran a 40 day Kickstarter campaign in order to raise $15,000 and were so fortunate to have surpassed our goal by the end of the campaign. When spearheading your own startup company, one of the scariest things you’ll have to face is the future. Will your fintech model succeed? Will your new app launch an entire empire? How big will your team grow, and is it healthy—or even humane?—to cram all of the new employees into that small, florescent-lit office space? All of those question marks can tie your stomach into knots.

Mindfulness has been described as "bringing one’s complete attention to the present experience on a moment-to-moment basis." (Marlatt & Kristeller, 1999) It’s a fact, or a series of facts, that practicing mindfulness and meditation helps to decrease anxiety, boost emotional intelligence, and increase clarity, focus, and productivity. Why is everyone not doing this?? We are bombarded by thoughts every day which pull us into stresses of the past or future, so why would we not want to learn to live in the present moment to more consistently deliver on the best versions of ourselves? It’s time to wake the hell up.
I’m a Certified Life Coach & Consulting Chief Wellness Officer for Grind. I joined the coworking world about 2 years ago. I’d had an office for a couple of years, but it started to feel very isolated, so the search began for the ideal coworking space. Grind works well for me for two reasons: 1) it has an open floorplan which allows me to be around and interact with other entrepreneurs. 2) it has phone cabins and small conference rooms where I can have coaching sessions with clients. I appreciate introducing my clients to an energetic, high-functioning environment where people are making things happen. I also dig the minimalist vibe/aesthetic.
